Campaña para impedir la elección de Hugo Chávez al Consejo de Derechos Humanos

Nosotros, los miembros del parlamento, activistas por los derechos humanos y organizaciones no gubernamentales que suscribimos el presente nos oponemos firmemente a la candidatura de Venezuela para el Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas. En vista de su mala trayectoria con respecto a la protección de los derechos humanos en el ámbito local y su mal desempeño en la promoción de los derechos humanos en la ONU, el gobierno de Venezuela no cumple con los criterios mínimos de membresía que establece la Asamblea General de la ONU. En su lugar, instamos al Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU a adoptar esta Resolución sobre los abusos de Venezuelaredactada por un grupo de ONG.
